Participants will be able to:


  • Learn to use an online platform, Teaching Strategies GOLD, to collect high quality, authentic, and developmentally appropriate child assessment data

  • Learn about DCPS expectations for using GOLD, how to submit child assessments for DCPS checkpoints, and how to connect child assessment data to instructional practices


GOLD is a 2-part training


  • Part I is being offered to New Teachers at NTO on Aug 11

  • There are 2 options for attending Part II - Aug 22 8:30am-11:30am OR Aug 22 12:30pm - 3:30pm

  • Explore the scope and sequence of Early Childhood LEAP for the 2016-2017 school year, and identify the "Four Pillars of ECE Practice" that will guide our LEAP work

  • Construct an image of the Child that will act as the framework for the LEAP work throughout the year

  • Explore the role of the four pillars through a curricular perspective

  • Examine the role that relationships play in the development and learning of young children
